You can get hard travel bags and soft travel bags, and your decision should be based on your golfing travel needs rather than any other consideration. Price is important, of course, and that will also make a difference as to what you finally opt for, but the type of travel you are involved with is the most important factor.

Air Travel is Hard on Golf Clubs

Air travel can be hard on golf bags and their contents. It is not always possible for baggage handlers to treat golf bags any different from other forms of baggage, and accidents do tend to happen. The hard bags provide the highest amount of protection and the soft bags the lowest amount. The hard bags, however, are the higher priced. The soft bags are easier to carry.

Golf clubs are expensive, and their value to many golfers is greater than their replacement cost. To many their clubs are irreplaceable, irrespective of how much they are insured for; you can’t insure experience in use or sentimental value. It can take a golfer years to recover a game lost with a set of clubs. You can’t insure for that. The good golfers tend to travel more and the hard travel bags give them that bit more insurance against damage in transit.

The Average Golfer Travels less than a Professional

On the other hand, the average golfer tends to travel a lot less that a pro, and then mostly by auto. For many it involves no more than a few miles drive to the golf course. All they need is a bag case that will provide them with average protection during a car drive. A soft cover case is probably good enough, and they have the benefit of less bulk, lightness and better maneuverability. You can get all the rest of the options that come with the more expensive hard covers without paying so much for them.

The question of bulk is a valid one. The hard golf travel bags are so bulky that they won’t fit in all vehicles. Some hire vehicles have trunks that are too small, and an appropriate automobile has to be ordered from the hire company in advance. Not so with the less bulky soft covered case. It’s also easier to get in and out of the trunk, though you must make sure that it has decent handles when you buy it.

All is not Black and White Between Hard and Soft Travel Bags

Another feature you should check out is the security strap arrangement. Your golf bag should be able to be strapped securely into whatever type of travel bag you choose. If not, it will bang about inside and your golf clubs might get damaged. Especially with a soft case: here you must pack it properly and protect the club heads with clothing or towels to make sure that they cannot move around. This is something you must take into serious consideration when checking out the soft travel bag of your choice. Make sure it can secure the clubs and the club heads as well as the golf bag.

These are the major consideration when shopping for travel golf bags, and all is not black and white. Both the hard and the soft varieties have their merits and your choice should be based on the amount and type of travel you do. It is not always the most expensive that is best for you.

When you know what questions to ask about golf vacation packages, making arrangements are much easier. One specific destination to investigate is a Las Vegas vacation. When you start planning your Las Vegas golf vacation package, there are a number of details that you need to consider. This article will review several frequently asked questions you can ask to help you tee it up with confidence that you are getting the best vacation experience that you can.

What is your cancellation policy for this package, either lodging or tee-times?
When you are arranging a package at one of the Las Vegas golf resorts, ask the booking agent what happens when you cancel. Many agents need a week or two week notice. If you book just golf, expect that you will need to provide 48 hours notice to cancel tee times.

When does your credit card get charged for your lodging and golf?
This is important to make sure you have enough balance to cover your golf vacation package. Many booking agents do expect a deposit when you book the package. The deposit may be as great as 100%. Others agents may charge less, but almost every one of them requires full payment before your scheduled travel. Make sure to get the details about the deposit and any charges for cancellations.

Why use a booking agent when you can make your own arrangements?
The best agencies have been in business for many years and have developed friendships with Las Vegas hotels and golf courses. This gives the agent negotiating power. They have the ability to ask for and get the best values and pricing available which is a break for you. Also, agencies have Golf Vacation Planners who know the lodging and courses. They can find the destinations and the best marketplace values for what you want. This can save you you hundreds of dollars per person.

How do you process upgrades, changes or cancellations?
Always treat your booking agency as your travel provider. You will receive information and pricing on upgrades and they will handle any required changes or cancellations to your reservation.

How do you handle changing the exact itinerary for “special” vacation packages?
Booking agencies offer “Specials” from time to time with discounted prices. If you like most of what is included in the Special, but want a few options, talk to the booking agent. Many times, the agent can tweak the “Special” and still give you substantial savings. Remember to ask for exactly what you want.

Can the agency arrange lower cost afternoon twilight rates, reserve 36 holes in a day or reserve rental golf clubs?
Because of their relationship with golf course staff, a booking agency can help you get twilight and re-play rates when available. For many Las Vegas golf resorts, most courses take advanced reservations to rent golf clubs at $30.00 -$45.00 a day. A non-playing partner can ride along in your golf cart for $15 to $25, depending on the course.

When you ask the right questions, you know what to look for in golf vacation packages and take the risk out of your Las Vegas vacation.

Did you know that close to 5000 designs have been developed, approved and patented since the 1990s ? its no wonder then that it is one of the most artfully designed items in the field of sports.

With so many options to choose from, choosing a suitable golf all is indeed a golf player’s nightmare.

Because of the multiplicity of player types, the designers have also tried to develop different designs of balls which can suit each player, so that maximum fun can be derived from the game, as well as increase the possibility of a par.

Structure of a golf ball

1. Two-piece balls, also called ‘distance balls’ by the players are made up of material that is hard and immune to cuts. They are known for their ‘distance’. The inner of these balls are tight and can be made of different materials. The distance a ball can travel is decided by how hard the inner is. It is a fact though that these balls lack the ability to spin, and it is difficult to manage these two-piece balls, because of its limited ability to spin.

2. For better feel and ability to spin, three-piece golf balls are ideal. They are made only for this purpose. The outer softer coat or Balata covers a tight inside. There is a fabric layer that occupies the space between the outer cover and the core. This lessens or softens the blow of the club on the ball. Though this gives the ball a better feel and spin, the areas of compromise are longevity and the distance.

3. When you want an all-purpose ball, go for balls which multi-layered. These balls consist of a lasting, soft cover which contains many layers of thin materials and a vastly improved inner core. This makes the ball good in all respects.

Choosing the right ball for you :

1. Novices and players with high handicap who are most likely to hit the ball wrongly, should go for two-piece golf balls which has a Surlyn coat since these balls last longer, cheap and come with the ‘distance’ advantages.

2. Golf balls with three-piece structure with Elastomer or Balata outer cover are good for mid handicap players. These balls are capable of ‘ swing speeds’ and do not make any compromise on the distance aspect.

3. Experienced golf players should choose multi-layered balls. Since these players are low handicap and have good ‘swing speeds’ they can get the advantage of distance, feel as well as good spins.

Much like other equipment required to play golf, getting the right ball for you would require a lot of trial and error till you hit the right choice. But do not refrain from playing this enjoyable game – you will definitely get to the most perfect choice of ball in no time.

A golf travel case is a necessity for any golfer that travels. Not only are golf clubs heavy and troublesome to carry around, it is very hard when carrying further luggage on a trip.

Most golfers like using their own golf clubs so a golf travel case is just the answer. There are a few different kinds of golf travel cases with some even better for airline travel and others for vehicle travel.

The hard golf travel cases are a little pricier but are the best for airline travel as they can take lots of rough handling. When you fly, you have no idea how they put your golf clubs on or off the plane. A hard golf travel case is the best way to cover your golf clubs when flying.

Soft golf travel cases are more flexible so for traveling by car, they are most ideal. They are a little less expensive than the hard golf travel case but are far easier to store when you arrive at your destination as they fold up into a small stack.

When searching for a golf travel case to buy, here are a few tidbits to look for:

1. Whether it is a hard or soft case, make sure they have a fully padded interior from bottom to top, as you do not want your golf clubs ruined.

2. Golf travel cases with a padlock and an I.D. window are very useful.

3. Make sure the stitching is double on the soft golf travel cases.

4. Double latches or zippers opening from top to bottom will make the case more accessible.

Golf travel cases with lots of pockets give you extra storage for your golf belongings. Locked recessed golf shoe pockets, expandable outside pockets and padlocks for all zippers is something to look into.

Golf travel cases need wheels, ideally inline skate wheels as your do not want them to break down. Handles along the side, top and bottom help in carrying the golf travel case. Finally, a golf travel case should be waterproof.

Whether you are a beginner or a pro when it comes to playing golf, every golf enthusiast knows that next to the clubs the kind of golf bag you will be using is also important. You might be asking how a golf bag could affect your game directly. It doesn’t. But it has some indirect impact with regards to the overall game the player will be playing. Factors like fatigue and comfort are also important.

There are four types of golf bags. We have the carry bags which are appropriate if you plan to do a lot of walking for the entire game. These are usually made of plastic, nylon or other light materials.

Then there are the stand golf bags that are equipped with retractable legs which enables the bag to stand at a certain angle. The great thing with these stand golf bags is that you don’t have to be leaning down to get your clubs. Take note that with the carry bags you have to drop it to the ground when you need to make your swing. Then you have to fumble for the club you will be using. With the stand golf bag, your can have easy access to your clubs and they are kept clean and dry especially in muddy areas.

You also have cart golf bags which are designed to be used on the golf cart so wouldn’t need to carry them. These are large and bulky and can carry a full set of 14 clubs. They are designed with individual compartments so as to avoid the clubs from moving against each other which can cause damage.

The last kind is the golf travel bag which is used when golf clubs are brought while traveling especially by plane. They offer the needed protection for your clubs.

When you choose a golf club, you need to consider your needs. With cart golf bags you can conserve most of your energy for the game since you won’t need to be carrying it. But despite this you still need to check if you could at least carry the cart bag when loaded for you will be carrying it from your car to the golf cart and vice versa. If you have caddie when you play you can opt for either the carry bag or stand bag. If you will be carrying it yourself check if it is comfortable to carry. But nowadays there are a lot of very light weight carry golf bags.

The golf bag has truly evolved through the years with you being able to customize it to suit your style. They even come with accessories like umbrella, rainwear and golf gloves. For women, you can even have matching handbags with it. Whatever be the golf bag that you will be selecting, just make sure that it meets your needs and budget.

Many golfers are very particular with their sport equipments. And a real golfer values his golf set a lot. Golf such an expensive sport. Every equipment, club, and accessory should be well taken cared of, if only to protect your investment. This is the reason why golf travel cases are one of the necessities of a golfer. A golf travel case is the equipment that will secure the clubs when the golfer is out on a golf vacation or playing on a tournament. It is quite impossible to bring all the clubs that you need with you without the travel case. You can’t play golf without this piece of equipment.

Fortunately, golfers have many choices when it comes to golf travel cases. But if you only want the best, be certain of what you should buy. If you are not careful, you will end up with something of low quality. To guide you as to which golf travel case to buy, follow these tips:

1. Consider the style.

You might think that style is the least important. But that isn’t the case with golf travel cases. With the many designs you can choose from, it is only right that you pick the right one – the one that is a perfect match to your needs. The two major classes of golf travel bags are the hard-sided and soft-sided ones. Between the two, the hard-sided types are the better choice because of its durability and overall protection. The only downside of this style is that it can be quite heavy. It is not as portable as the soft-sided ones. So choose wisely. Do you need superior protection or would you rather go for convenience?

2. Consider the brand.

There are many golf travel cases manufacturers these days. Some of your choices are Cargo Golf, Burton, Datrek, and Samsonite. Needless to say, you have to go for the brand that you trust. Get the one that is made by the manufacturer of your own luggage.

3. Define the price.

You might be able to afford every golf travel case in the market. But even so, you should declare a reasonable budget for it. Know that these cases are normally sold at $100 up. Golf travel sets sold lower than a hundred bucks may not be durable. But those priced ridiculously might be too much a joke to buy. You know your finances. So buy accordingly.

4. Find retailer discounts.

Discounts do count. Try to buy from a store, whether online or offline, that gives out price cuts in your purchase. It may be as small as a shipping discount. But that would mean a lot of savings if you think about it. Some stores sell golf sets or packages. If you can get your travel case along with the rest of the clubs, that’s going to be a big benefit to you.

5. Check the warranty.

Always check the warranty that goes with the product you’re buying. Golf travel cases come with a warranty too. It would be best to go for the one that offers replacement or repairs for their cases because you are almost assured of a good quality product with them.

golf travel bag cases frequently provide golfers with problems. Among them are the space required for them, the weight and even the price. Some can be really expensive, particularly if you want a bit more protection that a soft cover travel case can provide.

If you have decided to buy a travel case for your golf bag, think on why you want it. Consider the features that would be essential to you, then note down those that would be just ‘nice to have’. If you want some protection during your daily drive tom the golf course, your needs will be less that if you are a golf pro traveling the world on the circuits.

You Need a Good Golf Travel Case if you are Flying

Most people who buy golf travel cases are somewhere in between the two. They are regular golfers who like to take their clubs with them when they go on vacation, whether it’s a long drive or a flight. You need a high degree of protection when flying, since your clubs have to be protected by the rough handling they can get on and off the aircraft. Baggage jockeys are not noted for their soft and careful handling techniques!

Whatever you decide, you also need something that will be fairly easy to get to and from the trunk. It will also have to fit in it, along with any other luggage you are taking with you, but if it’s only a short trip then you might consider a travel case that doubles as a luggage case. You get golf travel cases that you can fit in a change of clothing and any other overnight kit you need as well as your golf bag and apparel.

Make Sure Your Travel Case is up to the Job

If you are only going to use for short travel periods, and decide on the lightness and easy handling of a soft cover bag, not to mention the more attractive pricing, make sure you get enough protection to suit you. Your bag should be strapped in securely, and your clubs should be secured from rattling around. Some protection for the club heads is also useful.

If you opt for a hard case make sure you can carry it, since if you are traveling alone you will possibly have it and the rest of your luggage to handle. Make sure that the wheels are up to the job, and of course that the case itself adequately protects your clubs. After all, that is what it is for. It should also be easy to store at home when you are not using it. The handles should be good enough to help you lift it to and from the trunk, and the strapping should hold your bag and clubs securely and without rattling.

The Choice of Golf Travel Case is not an Easy One

If you decide what you need before you shop, rather than what would be nice to have, you can save money and own a case that suits your needs best. Golf travel bags cases come in all different sizes and colors and makes, so the choice is not an easy one if you step into a golf shop cold, and without putting the right degree of though to it.

A golf club travel bag is designed to protect your golf clubs, so that should be your first consideration. You can get a hard or a soft variety, the harder providing a greater degree of protection than the soft type, but also costing a good bit more. The softer bags tend to be lighter and easier to carry around.

Think of the Value of your Golf Clubs

You have to consider the cost of your golf clubs. Not just the cost if fact, but the value of them to you which could be beyond cost. If you are used to playing with a particular set it is sometimes a testing time for your whole golf game if you have to change them because of damage. They may also have some sentimental value, and these are all considerations you must take into account when deciding on how much you want to spend protecting them while traveling.

Another thing to take into account is the amount of travel you carry out. The more you travel the better the travel bag you should have. The type of travel is also a determining factor. Whereas a cheaper soft travel bag might be fine for you if you drive to your local course two or three times a week, you might need a top flight hard travel case if you are traveling on the pro golf circuit, or if you vacation abroad once or twice a year and take your clubs with you.

Some Soft Cases are Good for Air Travel

You can get soft travel bags that are quite good enough for air travel, and there are golfers who prefer this option due to the lightness and ease of moving them around terminals along with the rest of their luggage. Other prefer the extra protection the hard cases provide to customized clubs that could cost many thousands of dollars to replace, even though they are bulkier and not so easy to handle.

The hard travel cases usually strap the golf bag very securely into the case, and are provided with a good set of wheels that can take the weight without sticking. They are also more suitable for using as overnight cases, and you can pack all your clothing and other accoutrements that are required for a couple of days away from home. This can save you carrying an extra suitcase.

You can use many soft golf club cases as regular golf bags, and use them on the course. Many can be fixed to carts or buggies, allowing you to keep your golf bag protected inside them while playing. You can specify this option when you purchase, and you can also have your travel bag customized to your specifications in the same way that you can with a regular golf bag.

All the Big Makers provide Golf Club Travel Bags

All the big makers provide a range of travel bags and cases, and many are made specifically to fit their own golf bags. So if you have a Bag Boy golf bag, for instance, you can get a Bag Boy travel bag made to suit it. Not just for color, but exactly for size for maximum protection. Most manufacturers do this.

Decide what kind of golf travel bag you need to match your specific requirements, and make a decision from that. Don’t go just for the best looking, but get the most functional. That is one that gives you the best degree of protection in the price range you are looking for, and the size and weight that suits you.

You should choose a golf bag travel cover according to your needs. Everybody’s needs are different, and you should check out the pros and cons of the hard travel covers and the soft. There are times when the hard cover is best and others when you would be easier with the soft one.

If you fly a lot, you would be well advised to get yourself a hard travel cover for your golf bag and clubs. These covers can be thrown about a bit by baggage handlers, no matter how many ‘fragile’ stickers you put on them. On the other hand if you only travel occasionally by car, you will find a soft golf travel cover provides sufficient protection, especially if packed properly, and is also lighter and easier to travel with.

Check out the Other Features

The common features that you should be looking out for include padding for your club heads, to prevent them hitting against each other and getting damaged, and decent strapping that secures your golf bag inside, so preventing it banging around inside and damaging the club shafts.

Other things that are of use are external strapping to hold a small carry case or laptop case, secure pockets for shoes and a good set of handles. Many people forget that they have to carry the travel cover to the car, load it into the boot and pull it out again. A good set of straps makes that easier. The wheels should also be fairly large and quite robust. You don’t want them buckling or sticking when you are walking through airport terminals

If you are Alone then too Much Luggage can be a Problem

You must keep in mind that unless you have others to help you, you will have a golf travel cover in one hand and a suitcase in the other. Any other baggage you have will be a problem. Your travel cover should have has much storage space as possible. If you can get one that takes a change of clothing plus a few toiletries for one or two nights, then that would be great. You could then dispense with at least one suitcase, and your golf case could be the only luggage you have with you.

All of these extras, and more, such as coolers with chill packs, are good but you must not take your mind off the whole reason for having a golf bag cover: it is for protection during travel. So assess the amount of traveling you expect to do and choose your bag from that. Lots of flying demands a hard cover and if you are mostly driving, or perhaps flying only once a year, you should find a les expensive soft cover is your best option.

Some Travel Covers will fit onto your Golf Buggy

There are cases to be made for each option, so once you have decided that, then check out all the other options that are available to you; the customization, the color and so on. If you opt for the soft cover, you may be able to use it out on the golf course without having to take your golf bag out. That saves a bit of work and also gives your clubs added protection. You can fit them to your cart or golf buggy, and you don’t even have to carry them around the golf course.

There is a lot of choice available to you when you are shopping for a golf bag travel cover, and lots of makers supply a range to suit their own range of golf bags. It’s best to match your cover with your golf bag which assures you of a perfect fit, than to try to fit a golf bag by one maker into a cover produced by another.

Make sure you know what you want then go and get it. You are going to have it for a long time so make the right choice.
